Disney Monorail Hotels Disney Monorail HotelsThe most convenient hotels for Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom are the monorail hotels. The Disney monorail is an innovative and convenient way to travel around Disney World as it connects hotels,Magic Kingdom, Epcot and the central hub of the Transport and Ticket Center. If you want to be in the middle of the magic then a Disney monorail hotel is a great place to stay! Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Polynesian Resort Hotel are the 3 monorail hotels. They are all Disney deluxe category hotels. Each has their very own theme and luxury amenities. Take a look at this guide to see which of the Disney Monorail Hotels is the best choice for your family. The Express Monorail travels from The Transport and Ticket Center (TTC) to Magic Kingdom. When you arrive at the Magic Kingdom parking lot you will enter the TTC from where you can either board the monorail or the boat to the park. The Resort Monorail travels from The Contemporary Resort making stops at Magic Kingdom, The Grand Floridan Resort and Spa, and back to the Transport and Ticket Center. The Epcot Monorail travels from the TTC to Epcot. This is my favorite monorail journey as you will travel through Epcot and get an excellent view of the park. This monorail seems to be a lot less busy than the others and it provides a relaxing journey over some of the huge expanse of Walt Disney World property. If you are looking for the ultimate in luxury at Disney World then the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has to be your first choice. Built in the traditional style of the Victorian era of elegance this beautiful hotel covers over 40 acres. Many of the rooms at The Grand Floridian Resort have views over The Magic Kingdom. Nestled at the side of Disney's Seven Seas Lagoon this hotel is the flagship hotel of Walt Disney World. The location really doesn't get any better than this as it is just a short ride on the monorail to The Magic Kingdom. Children will also feel very welcome at The Grand Floridian. The hotel may be 5 star but this is Disney after all and there are plenty of touches to make the children feel at home. Standard rooms are a good size at 440 square feet and many have balconies. Spread out over 5 buildings there are various views available of course the Magic Kingdom views are the most sought after and also the most expensive! Disney's Grand Florida hotel has 2 swimming pools including one which is located on the edge of The Seven Seas Lagoon with a sandy beach, water falls and a slide. There is no excuse to lapse from your fitness regime here as there is a fitness facility, tennis courts, a jogging track and of course the full service spa. The Floridian houses some of the best restaurants in Walt Disney World including the adults only restaurant Victoria and Alberts, and the very popular character buffet at 1900 Park Fayre. Disney's Polynesian Resort is ideally located on the monorail system just minutes away from Magic Kingdom. Step into the lobby and you will be transported to a different world. This South Seas themed Disney resort has a lot to offer and if you are looking for a deluxe hotel for your stay you really ought to consider The Polynesian. The rooms are large by Disney deluxe hotel standards. At between 410 to 476 square feet some of them are larger than Disney's Grand Floridan hotel. All of the rooms were refurbished in 2006. Some rooms have a view of Magic Kingdom. There are 2 swimming pools at Disney's Polynesian Resort. The most popular pool is the Nanea Volcano Pool complete with water falls and a slide. This is not a particularly large pool for the size of the resort and it does tend to get crowded at peak times. Guests can use the fitness facility at The Grand Floridian if they wish. Walt Disney World Polynesian Hotel also offers a good choice of restaurants well worth a look even if you are not a guest of the hotel. It is also home to the very popular dinner show Spirit of Aloha Polynesian Luau . This has to be one of the most innovative hotels anywhere in the world! Not many hotels have a monorail running though it but Disney's Contemporary Resort has just that. The monorail stop is inside The Contemporary Resort lobby so you are literally steps away from Disney World Magic Kingdom. The hotel has recently been refurbished and now the rooms are furnished to a high standard in a modern style. One issue which some guests may have is the lack of Disney theming in the rooms but if you are looking for a luxury hotel very close to Disney World for many it is the perfect choice. The Contemporary Resort is split into two sections. The Tower, which is the main building with the monorail and restaurants, and the smaller Garden Wing. The views from The Tower can be of Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon, or Bay Lake. Many people prefer The Tower rooms, not only for the views, but also because of their close proximity to the monorail and the restaurants. Disney's Contemporary Resort has 2 of the most popular restaurants in Walt Disney World Chef Mickeys and The California Grill. Chef Mickeys is a character buffet open for breakfast and dinner. The California Grill is located on on the 15th floor of the Tower. This is consistently one of the most highly rated restaurants in Disney World and the view of the fireworks is spectacular. Be sure to make advance dining reservations as early as possible to get a table. The Contemporary Resort has 2 swimming pools. However to be honest these pools are a little disappointing and whilst the view is good over Bay Lake, for a Disney hotel pool it really is one of the least impressive and could do with refurbishing.
